Brigada
I am proud to have participated in Brigada Eskwela 2011.
I went to Tangalan Elementary School to enroll my son in Mrs. Francisca P. de Martin’s class when I was reminded by my friend, Mrs. Lovella Tirol-Fulgencio, that tomorrow is the last day of enrollment.
After enjoying my cup of “Kari” cup noodles, I showered and went to the school to get Fran’z report card from Ma’am Love. I went to Mrs. de Martin’s class and met her formally for the first time. Her reputation precedes her. She’s known to be a very strict teacher.
We exchanged greetings, I gave her the report card and sat down to copy the requirements and everything else written on the board. Here’s what I copied:

After that, I helped in sweeping dried leaves outside and signed in the attendance. It’s nice, actually.
Forever
Classes won’t start officially until June 6, 2011 – Papa’s birthday, but I can’t deny that I am excited and anxious at the same time about what this academic year holds – academics, Aklan Collegian, Literati, internship and graduation. Right now, I am designing some shirts for the Literati. One quotation caught my attention:
“We all die. The goal is not to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.” - Chuck Palahniuk
It reminded me of the novel that I was writing, which was lost when my sister’s old laptop took its last breath. I know I’m no novelist, but it’s a start. I have to print this quotation and post it in places where I usually work to keep me motivated.
I believe that sometimes, we’re not aware but we are making a difference through our little actions, our words and sometimes, even our thoughts. I hope that this year will be filled with differences – differences that will lead to a better life. I’m listing down our proposed activities and I will discuss these tomorrow with the Literati President, Ms. Ann Roselle Custodio, before discussing these with other Literati Officers. Will keep you posted.
